FL DUI Lawyer

Beginning July 1, Slow Driving in Florida Could Cost You $$$

Starting July 1, going too slow in a Florida “fast lane” will no longer just affect the people getting angry behind you.  Now YOU could end up paying a $60 ticket.  Recently signed into law, it is now illegal to go 10 mph or more below the speed limit in the fast lane.

This law is clearly an effort to reduce road rage and to put speedy drivers at ease.  Or, maybe it is just another example of our government regulating EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN!!!!

Interestingly, driving too fast (speeding) is not recognized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as a sign of impairment, but driving too slowly is.  Now there is a legitimate reason for a DUI traffic stop for driving too slow without other cues for impairment.

In any event, enjoy your summer in the fast lane, and remember to wear your seatbelt, leave the texting/facebook in the glovebox, and Don’t drive too slow.
